This documentary must be over 30 years old. I remember this tragedy very well, as I was 20 y/o and living in my native Sevilla. It was terrifying. At home we ate lots of vegetables bought at the local market and only used olive and sunflower oils. We only learned about something called ‘aceite de colza’ (rapeseed oil) when the problems started, since it was not found at stores but was apparently sold, very cheaply, in some parts of Spain by door to door salespeople. We never heard of anyone in Sevilla falling ill with the ‘syndrome’ and we were not told anything about pesticides; I only found out about it a few years ago.

Remember the Thalidomide babies? One woman was the reason the real source was uncovered (likely more people and she was pivotal and had to keep fighting).
The same tragedy happened in Morocco in 1959, 20000+ victims, in one region, the oil was contaminated with tri-ortho-cresyl phosphate. Of course no accountability, no one payed for this tragedy, still acting like it never happened.
