“Our project actually involves a lot of different types of literature that we sought to present as a kind of uniform library. The problem is that generally when we speak of the Dead Sea Scrolls or the Apocrypha – which are books that were found in the Greek Bibles and hence are in the Catholic Bibles – or various other terms that we use for this literature, we’re dividing the literature according to where and how we got it…as opposed to what it’s really like. And so what we did in this project is to create a new classification system, according to the literary types of the material, and that will help very much in understanding it as a corpus of the library, so to speak, that would have been there if you were a Second Temple Jew.”
