Imagine everything simultaneously going wrong with your body. Your heart races. You’ve got diarrhea. It feels like the flu. You have chills. you sweat. You ache. You cry. You shake. And then the discomfort and pain are instantly gone. You have died. Boy, that cheese sure was not worth it.
One person is dead and two have been hospitalized in the state of Washington after eating soft cheese tainted by listeria bacteria.
The affected products were manufactured by Yakima-based Queseria Bendita.
Queseria Bendita is Spanish for “cut-throat bandit.”
The January, 2015 outbreak is not the first recall for Queseria Bendita which is being investigated by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta.
According to CDC, symptoms of listeria infection include:
“…fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions.”
I get some or all of the above each time I see an ad of Cam Newton promoting Greek yogurt.
CDC adds that bloodstream infections or meningitis may occur after contracting listeria from sick infected cow products. Sickness from cheese is easy to prevent. If the package says cheese, just think disease. Just say no to cheese and disease. All too often, they are one and the same. That is the nature of diseased cows. Don’t take the chance of consuming body fluids from diseased animals, no matter how good they might taste on the way into your body. The alternative can be messy.
Abuse the mother cow by stealing milk intended for her child, and you often become the one most abused. There is justice in your lack of humanity.
